Third force: Nigerians can’t be fooled again, says former Senate President •Why OBJ’s third force’ll not work —Falola.
FORMER Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara and a professor of History, Professor Toyin Falola, have stated that the idea of a third force as canvassed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo might not work.
The duo, in separate interviews with Sunday Tribune, identified the difficulties that the idea might face given the peculiarities of the country’s politics.
Wabara, who noted that Nigerians should look in the direction of the PDP in their search for another president in 2019, having become tired of the ruling APC, maintained that the opposition party had been rebranded and that it would easily defeat Buhari if the APC chose to field him in 2019.
Similarly, Professor Falola, who is of the University of Texas, United States of America, said the idea of a third force had been nursed but that Nigerian politics had become too monetised for the idea to succeed, noting that “Nigerian politics is about money…The entire space has become monetised.”
