The entire board of the US Gymnastics board is set to resign in the wake of the scandal involving the sexual abuse of more than 150 female athletes by former team doctor, Larry Nassar.<br />

Nasser, 54  was sentenced to between 40 and 175 years in prison following a week of testimony by his victims. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving girls who were 15 years old or younger. Nearly 160 women who were under his care have come forward with abuse allegations against him.<br />

Larry Nassar sex abuse scandal forces the entire USA Gymnastics board to resignOn Thursday, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) gave an ultimatum, demanding the members of the Gymnastics board step aside before Jan. 31 or face termination as the sport's national governing body.<br />
<br />
At least five members already had said they had resigned, months after President Steve Penny stepped aside under pressure a result of the scandal.<br />
<br />
On Friday, the sporting body confirmed the remaining 16 would also quit.<br />
<br />
"USA Gymnastics will comply with the USOC requirements," spokeswoman Leslie King said.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the scandal has also seen the US Gymnastics announced that they would close down their national team training centre in Texas, where Nassar abused many of his victims.

A new price is set to hit toll gate users as the Lekki Concession Company Limited has announced that it will increase the toll tariffs being charged at the Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge Toll Plaza with effect from Thursday, February 1, 2018.<br />

The LCC in a statement said, 'the toll fare increase is as a result of current economic and business realities that have adversely increased the cost of operations and maintenance of the company’s loan obligations'.<br />

The Managing Director, LCC, Mohammed Hassan noted that the feedback and recommendations received during the series of consultations held in December 2017 with stakeholders in Eti-Osa Local Government area and its environs considerably influenced the new toll fares to be paid by motorists plying the Expressway and the Link Bridge.<br />

Detailing the new development, Mr. Hassan said: "Since the commencement of tolling in December 2011, the toll tariffs had remained the same despite the continuous increase in the cost of operations to ensure that the toll plazas and the road infrastructure are well maintained. The toll review has also become necessary to enable the company meet its loan obligations to its local and foreign lenders, considering the fact that foreign exchange rates have continued to increase astronomically in the last couple of years. LCC cannot continue to operate or provide the services required from us if we do not review the toll tariffs".<br />

Many of the consulted stakeholders including traditional rulers & community leaders, residents' associations and youth groups, Eti-Osa Local Government officials, members of the media as well as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Eti-Osa Local Government Area agreed that there was a need for constant upgrade of road facilities, as the Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe corridor was rapidly becoming an international economic hub for investors.<br />

Reacting to the new toll fares for branded commercial vehicles popularly called 'Danfo', Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Jakande, Eti-Osa Local Government Chapter, Alhaji Taofeek Oluwa, commended the foresight of LCC in consulting with leaders and members of the NURTW in Eti-Osa LGA. Alhaji Oluwa noted that although the toll fare review by LCC was unavoidable, the NURTW was glad to know that LCC took their advice for a minimal increment on toll fare from N80 to N100 (N90 for eTag users) for commercial transport buses plying the Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway. "As long as LCC honours its agreement of our mutual understanding at the stakeholders' meeting, we can confidently support LCC and the Lagos State Government by assuring that commuters will not suffer any increase in the fare paid to board branded commercial buses coming into or going out of Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway. Also, if the fare increase will improve the standard of the roads and provide more comfortable and safer journey for all road users, NURTW will be happy to endorse the toll fare review", Alhaji Oluwa added.<br />

Keeping in line with its corporate objectives of delivering real utility to road users on the Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, LCC had managed operations of the roads for the past ten years despite the yearly increase of the cost of operations and other relevant expenses. In addition, LCC provides various other services to road users, especially as it relate to their convenience such as the 24/7 free vehicle breakdown and recovery services by the Company's Route and Incident Management team; the LCC dedicated Police team; the Toll free Customer Service helpline and other services. Over 100,000 road users have benefited from the free service of the Route and Incident Management team since inception, while LCC dedicated police team has ensured improved security along the expressway.<br />

Mr. Ebuka Oseji, a businessman resident in Ajah, who was part of the community consultation with LCC, offered some advice saying: “It is also pertinent for LCC as a company to continue to carry out its corporate social responsibilities to the people in our catchment area so as to enable them enjoy the benefits accruable from investments in the area”.<br />

Mr. Hassan further urged motorists to take advantage of the electronic platforms by registering for e-Tag to enable them enjoy discounted passages and faster throughput at the plazas. The LCC’s Managing Director said that commercial buses would enjoy discounted passages such that transport fares will not be hiked as a result of the reviewed tariff.

The Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has criticised the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali for comments allegedly made by him where he blamed the herdsmen killings in Benue on the implementation of the anti-grazing law 2017. The Bauchi State Police Command on Thursday, January 25, paraded suspected criminals arrested in various parts of the state.<br />
<br />
Briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sanusi Lemu, said among the suspects are members of a robbery gang that dispossessed a 34-year-old man of the cash sum of six hundred thousand naira (N600,000:00) and shot dead his wife, Furaira Abdullahi.<br />

Below are details of the arrest recorded under the months in review:<br />

1. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY, CULPABLE HOMICIDE, BEING IN POSSESSION OF PROHIBITED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION SUSPECTS<br />
<br />
Following an intelligence report received by the command on the activities of notorious Armed Robbery Syndicate that have been terrorizing innocent members of the public.<br />
<br />
On 22/01/2018 at about 1200hrs a combine team of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) of the command traced and arrested the syndicate in their hideout while planning to attack some strategic locations in Bauchi metropolis.<br />
<br />
Investigation revealed that the syndicate operates in Bauchi, Plateau, Gombe and Nassarwa States and also FCT Abuja. They are also responsible for the following robbery cases in the state:<br />
<br />
i. On 22/01/2018 at about 0200hrs the syndicate stormed Yuguda Village robbed one Maigyalla Mohammed 30yrs ‘m’ and Jafaru Abdullahi 20yrs ‘m’ of their Bajaj Motorcycles. They also robbed one Munkaila Tanko ‘m’ of the cash sum of N30,000:00, thereafter shot him to death.<br />
The two robbed Motorcycles were recovered by the Command Operatives and will soon be handed over to their rightful owners.<br />
<br />
ii. On 13/01/2018 at about 2200hrs the syndicate attempted to rob one Sadiq Ahmed Iliya 35yrs ‘m’ of Isa Yuguda Guest House Bauchi, of his Honda Motor Vehicle in the process they shot and injured a security guard in the area thereafter escaped to unknown destination.<br />
<br />
iii. On 11/11/2017 the syndicate blocked Durum – Yuga road shot and injured passengers on the route and also robbed them of two (2) Bajaj Motorcycles.<br />
<br />
iv. On 24/10/2017 the syndicate stormed Bidolo Village, Bauchi LGA, robbed one Abubakar Abdullahi 34 yrs ‘m’ of the cash sum of six hundred thousand naira N600,000:00 and shot his wife one Furaira Abdullahi to death. They equally robbed one Abubakar Adamu 40yrs ‘m’ of the same address of his Bajaj Motorcycl e valued at N141,000:00

The Academy Award winning film star spoke about her insecurities but said it helps keep her humble. She also explained why she spoke up about being sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein.<br />

In a panic, Lupita offered to massage him, reasoning that this would give her some control. Harvey then told her he would take his pants off, and she left.<br />

At a later date, she had dinner with him and he told her: "Let's cut to the chase. I have a private room upstairs where we can have the rest of our meal."<br />

In Lupita's writing, Harvey told her that "If I wanted to be an actress, then I had to be willing to do this sort of thing."<br />

According to the New York Post's, the 31-year-old model recently listed the four-bedroom plush pad for sale after Hugh bought it for Crystal in 2013 while the pair were living at the Playboy Mansion together to ensure she would be looked after he died.<br />

Yakasai, who voiced out his feelings on Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s open letter to President Buhari, noted that the Owu Chief had spoken the mind of Nigerians.<br />

Yakasai said in statement that, “Obasanjo letter was an expression of disappointment of Buhari’s administration and it summarises the feelings of Nigerians and non Nigerians”<br />

He said “the Buhari that I know would certainly jettison the advice because of his desperation for power, he is after power, and doesn’t see anything else.<br />

A lady who goes by the name Lilah and with the twitter handle (@canyewext), has taken to the social networking platform to reveal how she was left heartbroken after a guy she's been crushing on, saved her phone number as "Afang Soup".<br />

The lady claimed she went to the guy's house at a time and cooked for him a delicious meal with the popular Nigerian delicacy soup, Afang.<br />

Though it was not stated in her post how she got to know about the name given to her by the guy, but surely she wasn't happy as shown in the way she came online to rant about the whole situation.<br />
