Report: Chelsea ready to sack Conte
Antonio Conte could be sacked if Chelsea lose to Watford on Monday, according to the Daily Express, and replaced by Luis Enrique.
The tactician said this week that he was ruling himself out of the running for the Italy job because he has 18 months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
However, poor results and an increasingly tense relationship with owner Roman Abramovich could see that deal terminated early.
Despite his protestations, it’s widely believed Conte intends to leave Chelsea at the end of this season regardless.
The Blues are currently 21 points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City, sit in fourth place and risk missing out on a Champions League spot.
It’s reported former Roma and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is being targeted as a replacement.
This would make the Champions League Round of 16 a curious occasion, as Chelsea will be facing Barcelona.
