Ramos: Real Madrid have done something quite bad to be this far behind Barcelona
Real Madrid now stand a mammoth 18 points behind league leaders Barcelona after their 2-2 draw with Levante, leading Sergio Ramos to make clear that Los Blancos must have done something wrong to be so far adrift of their rivals.
Ramos opened the scoring for the visitors, but defensive mistakes would later cost the team with both Levante goals being avoidable.
"We must have done something quite badly because it's not normal to be this far away from Barcelona," he explained in his post-match interview.
"We have dropped so many points in matches where we have been in control.
"It's been one of our worst years and the Champions League is all that's left.
"We need to be united as that's the only way we'll do something in that competition."
When pushed on the individual errors which cost the team, Ramos pointed towards an inability to retain control.
"There's a lot to analyse, it's true that at times we appear to be dominating and in control," he intimated.
"Then once they've had a shot rebound off Keylor Navas, we make a mistake.
"We have to look at this because we're still alive in the Champions League."
Ramos was visibly annoyed after Giampaolo Pazzini's late goal secured a point for the hosts and the Spanish defender made clear that after working so hard to get a lead, it's very difficult to accept giving it away.
"It bothers us all, not just myself, when you do the difficult thing by coming back and going ahead and then you draw with five minutes left," he admitted.
"In football, these things happen, but Real Madrid have an obligation to play well.
"We want to give a good account of ourselves."
Next up for Ramos and co. is a home match against Real Sociedad, before PSG come to town.
