Osinbajo, Sanusi in closed-door meeting.
VICE-PRESIDENT, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who was in Kano on Saturday for a wedding, held a 40-minute closed-door session with the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi.
Osinbajo, who was said to be in the state for the wedding of one of his aides, was met by hundreds of youths.
The youths also displayed placards with inscriptions which read: Capital No to the Coalition between Kwankwaso and Obasanjo, and We Are Not in Support of the Coalition between Obasanjo and Kwankwaso.’’
They expressed displeasure with the rumoured alliance between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, insisting that they were opposed to what they described as a “strange alliance.”
Spokesman of the youths, Mallam Yushau Ibrahim, said they would do everything to ensure that Obasanjo did not actualise his alleged ambition of imposing Kwankwaso on Nigerians as the next president.
Shortly after arrival at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Professor Osinbajo and his host, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as well as members of the national and state Houses of Assembly, including top government functionaries, moved to the Umar bn Khatabb mosque to attend the wedding fathia of his personal assistant, Hafiz Ibrahim.
Thereafter, the vice-president, alongside his entourage, drove to the emir’s palace, where he met Sanusi, for 40 minutes, details of which were not disclosed to the media.
All efforts to speak with the vice-president proved abortive, as his spokesman, Dr Adeolu Akande, said they were in Kano for the wedding.
