Gary Lineker chooses Lionel Messi, Neymar and Harry Kane over Cristiano Ronaldo
Gary Lineker has piled more misery on Cristiano Ronaldo by choosing Lionel Messi, Neymar and Harry Kane ahead of the Real Madrid striker.
Despite recently finding his goalscoring form again after a slow start to the season, Ronaldo and his Real team-mates have endured a frustrating season.
They were knocked out of the Copa del Rey quarter-finals by minnows Leganes, while they also lie 4th in La Liga — 19 points behind leaders Barcelona.
And Lineker has suggested Ronaldo is coming to the end of his career at the top, by rating the three strikers above the Portuguese forward.
When asked in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, 'Ronaldo or Messi?' he replied: 'I like Cristiano a lot, but Messi is from another world.'
Lineker was then asked, 'Ronaldo or Neymar?' and he said: 'Neymar, but when he played in Barcelona. Neymar is the future, Cristiano has been great.'
And the final question was between Kane and the former Manchester United star, and he answered: 'For the future, Kane!'
The former England and Tottenham striker also discussed Real Madrid's poor displays this season, and he admitted he can't explain why they are struggling.
He added: 'I'm surprised, I do not know what happened with Real Madrid this season because last season, they won almost everything.
'It's hard to explain, confidence is very important for the players, maybe some players are a bit older, I don't know if that's it.'
