Mendy braves the cold and celebrates Super Bowl 2018 with hilarious video
Benjamin Mendy has been stepping up his rehabilitation as he nears a return to Manchester City's injury-stricken squad.
The full-back has been recovering in a specialist clinic in Minnesota but it hasn't been all work and no play.
In a break from his recovery work, Mendy got into the American spirit as he enjoyed Super Bowl LII which took place in the state.
Undeterred by the freezing cold conditions, Mendy took to Instagram to document his hilarious time at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Despite the -20F temperatures, the Frenchman walked topless down the street as fans made their way to the spectacle where Philadelphia Eagles finally beat New England Patriots in an extraordinary upset.
Writing on Instagram, Mendy wrote: 'Shark's not cold'.
With his clothes back on, Mendy took his seat to watch the kick-off but seemed more distracted with the supporters around him.
Forever the showman, the 23-year-old tried out the NFL filters and even got those sitting around him involved.
After putting a virtual NFL helmet on the couple sitting behind him, he then joined in the chants and laughed his way through the game.
Not content with just an ordinary ticket, Mendy also managed to get behind the scenes and took videos from outside the teams' locker rooms.
Pep Guardiola will have been happier with the videos of his player working out at the recovery center as he wrote: 'No days off'.
The left-back has been out of action since September after suffering a cruciate-ligament injury but is now looking close to a return.
Following the showpiece, Mendy documented his latest workout where he practiced his quick feet under close supervision of a club coach, writing: 'Jimbo kills me everyday'.
The Mayo Clinic, where Mendy has been stationed, is a specialist centre which works with some of the world's best sports scientists.
Focus will be on a return before next season with his career at Manchester City yet to take off.
Mind you, despite his inactivity on the pitch, Mendy has become a fan favourite for his activity off it and his performances in the opening matches of the season will have supporters pining for his return.
