2019: Combined forces of Obasanjo and Kwankwaso cannot stop Buhari - Presidential aids
- A presidential aide has boasted that neither former president Obasanjo nor former governor Kwankwaso can stop Buhari from securing his second term in 2019
- Sumaila criticised Obasnjo for advising the president against seeking reelection in 2019
- He said it is left for Nigerians to decide whether they want Buhari
The adviser to the president on National Assembly matters, Alhaji Suleiman Abdurahaman Kawu Sumaila, has said nobody can stop President Muhammadu Buhari from contesting in the 2019 presidential election.
According to him, even the combined former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso cannot stop Buhari for securing a second tenure, The Sun reports.
He disclosed this during the visit of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Kano state for a private wedding on Saturday.
Sumaila stated that Obasanjo has no right to decide for Nigerians whether President Buhari should recontest or not in 2019.
“If Nigerians decide that President Buhari should run again, Obasanjo certainly has no choice but to concede,” he said.
The presidential aide said the contents of Obasanjo’s letter will not deter Buhari for achieving the goals of his administration.
He said the president will remain focused on how to make Nigeria better for everybody.
Sumaila added that they would pick out the relevant points Obasanjo made in his letter and discard the rest.
“Whenever there is a piece of advice for a leader, I think the correct thing to do is to pick out what makes sense in the advice and throw away the rubbish thereafter”.
“We, APC, are ready for any eventualities. We are ready for Obasanjo, we are ready for Kwankwaso too,” Sumaila declared.

eagleee.com earlier reported that former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, joined other politicians to react to the controversial letter by Obasanjo asking President Buhari not to run for second term in office.
Oshiomhole said the former president is not one of the adviser of the president and is in no position to dish our advice.
The former governor made this statement on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents shortly after a closed doors meeting the president.
