Nigerian People’s Choice Awards Now To Hold December
The organisers of the Nigerian People’s Choice Awards (TNPCA), have announced the rescheduling of the event for December 2018.
The maiden edition of the awards was earlier slated for May. However, the organisers say the shift is necessary to enable more stakeholders pan Nigeria participate actively in the highly significant awards.
The TNPCA is a timely initiative designed to promote the quality of governance in Nigeria and encourage public officials to be outstanding in the performance of their duties by celebrating exceptional elected public officials and political leaders for their contributions towards building the nation in 2018.
According to the organisers, “following extensive consultations with stakeholders nationwide, the consensus was that the inaugural edition should be moved to enable all participants to assimilate the full essence of the awards and actively participate in the process”.
Being a new initiative, the stakeholders say it is important to give Nigerians both home and abroad enough time to understand and appreciate the concept, thereby eliciting their fullest participation.
Highlights of the event will include: awards for the best performing Senator, House of Representative member, Governor, Regional Governor, Regional Legislator, State Legislator, Local Government Chairman and the Most Outstanding Politician in a calendar year.
The awards will also be a critical intervention in fulfilling the wish of every well-meaning Nigerian to experience wholesale improvement in the quality of governance across all tiers of government.
In a statement signed by, Mrs Adenike Olufade for the TNPCA Team, the organisers say “while there are several awards across the entire Nigerian political landscape in honour of political office holders, none gives the power to all Nigerians to vote for their best choices as transparently as this award has done.”
The statement furthers says every Nigerian would be given an opportunity to nominate their best performing candidates in all the categories with the chance to vote for any of the top 3 candidates shortlisted by a Jury in all the categories.
The organisers declare that to ensure the voices of all those who previously nominated candidates for the awards count, subsisting nominations remain valid and will be added to the scores of candidates in a transparent manner.
The nominations of candidates in all categories are ongoing and will end in September 2018.
The TNPCA, now scheduled for December, promises to provide a prestigious, elevated and unblemished platform for the recognition and reward of excellence in governance in Nigeria.
