Meghan Markle's father will not attend his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry in three days' time because he needs to have major heart surgery today, it has been claimed.
Thomas Markle Sr., 73, revealed that he's having the surgery today at 3.30pm UK time. He blames his son Thomas Markle Jr. for triggering his heart condition with that open letter he wrote to Prince Harry asking him to walk away from marrying his half-sister because she's not who they think she is.
Speaking of his surgery, Markle Sr. said doctors will "go in and clear blockage, repair damage, and put a stent where it is needed". Mr Markle is thought to have previously stayed at General Hospital in Rosarito, the town where he lives, but it is unclear where today's operation will take place.
The news of Markle Sr.'s surgery comes just hours after Meghan seemed to have convinced her father to change his mind and walk her down the aisle. He pulled out on Monday, saying he didn't want to further embarrass his daughter after it was revealed that he had staged paparazzi photos for money. But yesterday he changed his mind and decided he'll wa;k his daughter down the aisle. Sadly, that will not be the case due to ill health.
The retired lighting director believes his heart attack was triggered by an open letter his son, Thomas Jr. wrote trying to convince Harry not to marry Meghan because it will be the "biggest mistake in royal wedding history". Thomas Markle Jr. wrote another open letter a week later apologising for his words and begging Meghan to invite him to her wedding.
